The adverse impact of the current inflationary cost-of-living pressures on parish residents means that, over the next few months, many will start to suffer from the impact of higher utility bills and rising food and fuel prices, exacerbated by the onset of winter.

The aim of the Community Cost of Living Liaison Group is to combine community-sourced ideas and actions together with information provided by national and local governement & advisory services – such as tips on reducing energy costs, keeping warm, reducing food waste/cost saving food ideas and accessing sources of financial help.

It comprises a number of village volunteers who will try to help signpost and source information/help, where possible. The Group would also invite residents to share any relevant ideas/suggestions that may be of help to others.

As part of this initiative, a Warm Haven in the Tower Room of St Giles’ Church has been set up. It has a host of leaflets with advice on reducing costs-of-living, some comfortable chairs, tea and coffee making facilities, free wi-fi, a small library and a number of activities to help pass the time.

The room will be open Mondays to Saturdays, 9.30am - 4.00pm during the winter months and members of the CCLLG will be available from time to time to provide specific information and help. Alternatively they can be contacted by e-mail at: gmcostoflivingcrisis@gmail.com.

A number of Information Leaflets, containing help and advice on various cost-of-living matters, are also available in the room to peruse at leisure.
